Hi Fellas!! I came up with a new trick which can improve speed for browsing internet. Before going ahead, to understand the stuff that i am going to explain, I am giving a basic introduction to DNS.
The DNS: An Introduction
DNS (Domain Name System) is a service which helps our browser to locate a website on the internet. Without DNS, it’s impossible to browse or access any resources on the internet. Every system, server or any device on the internet has a unique identity on the internet to communicate with each other, share or transfer any data. This unique identity is in the form of some numbers which are collectively known as IP address ( e.g.: 127.0.0.1). To access any site on the internet we need IP address. But, it is too difficult to memorize these IP addresses. To overcome this problem, Domain Names are invented. Domain name (e.g.: “justclickin.com”) is an unique alphabetical name which we can use to open a website. But, actually we need IP address to access any site on the internet. So Hows the domain name works? Here comes the concept of DNS. The DNS converts the domain name to its corresponding IP address, through which browser sends the request to actual server on the internet. And the DNS servers are listed in the IP configuration of the computer system. So, that the browser request to the listed DNS for the retrieval of IP Address.
Google Public DNS
The process that this service uses to find out the actual IP address is known as “Look Up”. So, the time consumed in the lookup also matters in some cases. Actually, we use the DNS servers of our ISP. But, there is much load on the server. Because, server has to maintain a large number of request. The number of requests doesn’t matter, the actual thing is server’s performance. That, can the server handle the specified extent of requests? Then sometimes, its hard to connect to server for the response for correct location (IP Address) of the website. To boost our LOOKUP request a little more and to lower the load of the server, we can use Google’s official DNS servers, instead of our ISP servers. The servers which are too much efficient in the vision of performance and the servers, which are used by the biggest infrastructure of the web’s largest giant “Google”. Why not to use these servers as our D
NS servers. Google opened this facility for the general public for better use of the web. And they named it “Google Public DNS”.
Implementing The “Google Public DNS”
For implementing the Google Public DNS service as your DNS service, you need to use configure your DNS settings. And fill the following DNS server addresses for using this facilities.
1. 126.96.36.199 2. 188.8.131.52
If you don’t know how to configure the DNS settings, refer to this configuration documentary provided by the Google: Google Public DNS Configuration.
