Simple tips to boost internet speed
In our last article we learnt how to increase the FireFox Browser Speed by tweaking FireFox Browser’s setting.
Today we are going to see couple of simple tips which will boost your internet speed. Let’s start with the tip now…
Boost Internet Speed
Tip 1: Changing reserved bandwidth to 0%
Many of us are aware that Windows XP, 7 etc. reserves 20% of the bandwidth thus reducing the speed a little. So to change the bandwidth usage to 0%, follow the steps mentioned below.
Step 1: Go to Run and Type gpedit.msc (This will give access to Group Policy Editor)
Step 2: Click on Computer Configuration -> Administrative Templates -> Network -> QOS Packet Scheduler
Step 3: Open Limit Reservable bandwidth -> Check Enabled -> Change the value of Bandwidth Limit to 0%… Click OK
That’s all… This tweak will increase the Internet Speed a bit.
Tip 2: Tweaking TCP/IP setting
Step 1: Download TCP Optimizer from this link (speedguide.net/downloads.php) (TCP Optimizer is a freeware which helps in adjusting the TCP/IP settings. The best thing about this application is that it doesn’t require installation)
Step 2: Run TCP Optimizer and change the connection speed to your actual internet speed. Don’t make any other changes in here.
Step 3: Reboot your system. That’s all
Now you will find the difference in the Internet Speed, the difference won’t be very huge but it is good enough to make you smile.
Try it and post in your experience.
