There is lot of instance wherein you would require some text which needs to be extracted from an image. If we have OCR (Optical Character Recognition) Software in our system then we can do this task with ease or else we will have to end up typing the entire stuff. There are good OCR software available online like Google Docs, ABBYY FineReader, OnlineOCR etc. These online image conversion tools are good but always have certain limitations and few do charge for text conversion. Today we are going to know about OneNote 2007 – a package in MS Office 2007 which can be used to Extract Text From Pictures.

You should have Microsoft Office 2007 installed to do this task.
Step 1: Go to Start and Run Microsoft Office OneNote 2007
Step 2: Import any Picture which has Text in it from your Computer
Step 3: Right Click on the Image and Select “Copy Text from Picture” Option
Step 4: Just Paste the copied text into a Notepad or any other file of your need
As you can see from the above steps that it is very easy to use OneNote and extract text from image. I have also used an image which is not very clear but still the output is very good. I won’t advice OneNote for doing big text to image conversion work because image to text conversion is just one of its features. So you can’t expect high end OCR features in OneNote.
OneNote is still one of the best applications to have for small image to text conversion work. Just try OneNote along with all its features and post in your comments or suggestions here.
