Samsung just released their Samsung Galaxy S8 which is more feature rich compared to its predecessor. Although People have different comments and views about S8 but let’s go ahead and take a look at Samsung Galaxy 8 and help you decide whether buying is worth it or not.
A 5.8 inch quad plus super amoled display with a resolution of 2960 x 1440 giving 570 ppi with its rounded corners. Its design is so sleek, comfortable, amazingly futuristic with its large screen and compact body. It fits perfectly on your hands due to its bezel less design that goes smoothly with its software keys home button hidden under the screen which makes it look bigger and make use of its full screen view. It’s length is very useful to users that multitask where a long display is needed. However it’s slightly slippery due to its Corning Gorilla Glass 5 on its front and backside and prone to smudges due to its midnight black model design. It still has the headphone jack which can be inserted by their free AKG headphones that comes along in the box and a single mono speaker located below right side of the charging port which is really a disappointment.
A Smart Buy
Due to reasons that people may love:
Has three security features to choose from for your smartphones protection:
It’s located at the rear next to your rear camera which is unique but the downside are it is out of reach to some people, accidentally touches or smudges your rear camera, and sometimes needs to shift the handset and needs a couple of tapping for it to work.
It’s a cool feature to boast on if it works giving a feel of living in the future but it’s very hard for it to work when you’re in a moving vehicle that sometimes you need to open your eyes very wide for it to work. Lighting is also another factor that makes it difficult for you to unlock which in turn makes a lot of attempts.
It’s the most working way to alternatively unlock your device with the less tries and sometimes it feels weird to hold it in an angle just for it to work due to lighting in the background. Spoofing a picture to unlock your device works which can be a bad thing.
Quad HD Display
To experience that full resolution, you just need to go to settings and set it to full where FHD+ (Full HD) is set as default. Although the resolution is already good at default but once you go to higher resolution it will greatly have a more impact on the battery life.
Has Qualcomm Snapdragon 835 for US and Exynos 8895 for International models. Its RAM is 4GB and an internal storage of 64GB with an expandable micro sd card slot up to 256GB.
One of the best specs is the additional of Bluetooth 5.0 which you can connect and stream with two devices at the same time which Samsung called it “Dual Audio”.
The battery is around 3000 mah which is very low to a high end device and you need to really set your phone settings to medium if you prioritize more on the battery life but compensates when it comes to charging since it charges fast. If you’re traveling and frequently use your phone then i suggest to bring a good powerbank.
Samsung launched its new assistant called “Bixby” which is a voice assistant similar to its rival Siri. Samsung’s goal even when they are too late in the game is to make Bixby essential to your daily life, whether it serve as your reminder, showing what apps you might need, and a one stop button for the information you demand.
Bixby is still slow for now and look like just another bloatware on samsung S8
So the question, is bixby important to you now?
For me it will not be the reason to buy S8 for, probably in the future it may improve more but not recommended as of now basing on a promise since Samsung can just stop the update anytime they want.
Now this is the best feature i love the most that will give you a desktop experience and turn it to a workplace just by plugging your phone into the DeX station. Things will get easier from now on through copying and pasting between apps by working multi tasking, sending text and email though a click of the mouse and a punch from the keyboard.
Samsung has really improved a lot in the years due to the rich features that samsung galaxy S8 has. It may have some flaws but compensates with its other features. In regards with if you want to pick it up will really depend on your usability, purpose and its price.
