YouTube is the world’s favorite video streaming website – thousands of users log in everyday to watch as well as upload music videos, vlogs, movies, TV shows, trailers, funny videos, educational content, news and so much more. We’ve put together some great tricks that can take your YouTube experience up a notch.
Best YouTube Tricks
Extract GIFs from Videos
GIFs are exciting to watch and share. They are often small clips taken out of larger videos. If you want to create a GIF, you can do it quite easily with YouTube videos! All you have to do is visit YouTube, open any video you like, and head to the URL on the address bar. Then, right before “youtube.com” in the URL, type in “gif”. The URL will look something like this:
Before: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_JND3HuOmDM
After: https://www.gifyoutube.com/watch?v=_JND3HuOmDM
Then, hit enter and the video will open. From here, you need to set the start and end time in order to trim out the portion of the video you want to use as a GIF. You can use the options towards the left. Also, try out the tools to customise your GIF, it’s fun! Once done, you can download the GIF and share it with your friends.
Pass Age and Regional Restrictions
Sometimes, you want to watch a video but you’re prohibited because of age and region restrictions. Annoying, right? Usually, you have to log in to prove your age. But if your country is not allowed to access the video, even logging in does not help. Here’s a great trick: Go to the URL on the address bar, remove the “watch?” and replace “=” with “/”.
Before: https://www. youtube.com/watch?v=_JND3HuOmDM
After: https://www. youtube.com/ v/_JND3HuOmDM
Download YouTube Videos
Thousands of users across the world wish they could download YouTube videos in a jiffy. Well, you actually can…and all it takes is adding two alphabets in the URL! Head to the address bar, and add “ss” right before “youtube.com”. Your URL will look something like this:
Before: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_JND3HuOmDM
After: https://www.ssyoutube.com/watch?v=_JND3HuOmDM
Hit enter, and then you’ll be redirected to a website where you can select the format and download the video. You can now enjoy all your favourite videos offline.
Use YouTube With Your Keyboard
YouTube is so much better when you can just sit back, relax and use it with your keyboard. Again, all it takes is a slight tweak in the URL. Just add “/leanback” or “/tv” after “youtube.com”. The URL will look like this:
Before: www.youtube.com
After: www.youtube.com/leanback or www.youtube.com/tv
Now, you can use the arrow buttons on your keyboard to easily navigate the website. When you hit the left arrow key, you’ll see a menu from which you can choose categories and other options.
